Online PhD programmes offered by edtech enterprises with foreign varsities not recognised UGC, AICTE

THE UNIVERSITY subventions Commission( UGC) and the All India Council of Technical Education( AICTE) have issued a notice advising people against subscribing up for online PhDs offered by edtech companies in collaboration with foreign educational institutions, saying similar programmes aren’t recognised by it.
In the notice, the advanced education controllers said scholars and the public at large shouldn’t be misled by announcements in this regard. The Education Ministry has constantly advised edtech players against issuing deceiving announcements.

“To maintain the norms for awarding PhD degrees, the UGC has notified the UGC( Minimum norms and Procedure for Award of MPhil, PhD degrees) Regulation 2016. It’s obligatory for all advanced educational institutions to follow UGC Regulations and its emendations for awarding PhD degrees, ” said a common order issued by the UGC and AICTE.
“ similar online PhD programmes aren’t recognised by the UGC. Aspiring scholars and the public at large, are requested to corroborate the authenticity of PhD programmes as per UGC Regulation 2016 before taking admission, ” said the notice.

OPSC OCS 2022: The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has issued the exam schedule for the Odisha Civil Services (OCS) Mains exam 2022. According to the schedule, the exam will be conducted from February 25, 2024, to March 3, 2024. The OPSC OCS fundamental test was led on October 1, 2023, and the outcome was pronounced on November 24. A sum of 8,220 competitors have cleared the fundamental assessment and are shortlisted for the principal test. The enlistment drive expects to top off a sum of 683 opening. The OPSC OCS 2022 mains test will be directed in two movements - the primary shift will be held from 9 am to 12 pm and the second from 2 pm to 5 pm.
